The ‘Cologne method’: a unique symbiosis of horsepower and technology! Our tried-and-tested method combines the power of horses with modern machinery to make timber harvesting efficient and environmentally friendly. A skid trail distance of at least 40 metres ensures optimal conditions.

In practice, the horse skilfully moves sections between 0.2 and 0.5 solid cubic metres to the edge of the skid trail, where they are neatly stacked. When the weather is suitable, our forwarder then picks up the timber and transports it to the storage area.

Our well-coordinated teams of skidders and horses achieve impressive daily outputs of up to 35 solid cubic metres (for sections between 0.2 and 0.3 solid cubic metres). This perfect harmony between humans, animals and technology is not only efficient, but also makes a valuable contribution to preserving the biodiversity of livestock breeds and actively protecting the climate.

Working with horses in the forest produces no pollutants and consumes no fossil fuels. A working horse can save thousands of litres of diesel during its ‘career’ and is 100% CO2-neutral. Choose sustainable timber harvesting – choose the ‘Cologne method’ for a green future!
